Conducting, Part 2: Considering Ballet–Pits, Tempos, and Tchaikovsky-Morning Seminar

Erin Freeman, Artistic Director

Erin Freeman, Artistic Director

A regular conductor and collaborator with the Richmond Ballet, WPA Artistic Director Erin Freeman will delve into the marriage of music and dance.  Who actually sets the tempi?  What does a repetiteur actually do? How are artistic conflicts resolved? Why is ballet one of the most inspiring art forms?  Special attention will be paid to the works of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, including the Serenade for Strings, which inspired George Balanchine's first American ballet.
