Get your popcorn and get ready for a special Movie Night Double-Feature! This concert starts with a double piano concerto a la Shostakovich before lighting up the screen with four Hearst Corporation animated shorts from the 1910s, complete with scores composed and conducted by our LEAD Cooperative students and played by professional Wintergreen Festival Artists. Then to the main event: a new version of Orson Welles’ 1938 comedy Too Much Johnson, with a brand new score composed by the one and only Daron Hagen! We’ll save you a seat.

Get ready for one hot evening of tango like you’ve never imagined it! “Hear the heartbeat of classical Argentinian tango” brought to life by a quintet of fiery musicians, and of course, their bandoneon player. You’ll hear tango in dramatic and unexpected ways with music written by hot composers in Buenos Aires as well as members of QuinTango!

Arrive as early as 6:30 pm to enjoy delicious festive light bites and a complimentary champagne toast. We're rolling out the red carpet (quite literally!) for you to have your photo taken with a gorgeous mountain backdrop and fun musical props – the perfect way to celebrate the return of music to the mountain!

When you enter the Dunlop Pavilion, prepare to be wowed with a traditional jazz combo featuring the stylings of Meredith Riley (violin) and Charlie Messersmith (clarinet). Then, the full Wintergreen Festival String Orchestra takes the stage to delight you with sounds of tango, polka, and even a hoe down. This is one Opening Night event you don’t want to miss!

Jazz, tango, folk, and classical chamber music find their way into one concert, proving once and for all that music invites and unites across centuries, styles, and nations. Featuring Dvorak’s “American” String Quartet and selections from Piazzola’s Estaciones Portenas (“Four Seasons”).

In celebration of Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday, we present an festive evening of song, featuring some of our nation’s finest song-writers, including Stephen Sondheim, George Gershwin, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Daron Hagen, and of course Bernstein himself.

Don’t miss our fourth annual movie night, featuring a double header of slapstick genius featuring two world-premiere scores played by Wintergreen Festival Artists: Buster Keaton’s The Boat (music by Academy composition students) and Charlie Chaplin’s City Lights (music by Daron Hagen).

With a string quartet and more, this will be the perfect celebration of brews, tunes, and the Blue Ridge Mountains. This special collaboration runs from 6:00-8:00 pm.

Haydn’s Concerto for Two Horns, featuring Wallace Easter, III with his father, Wally Easter; Alyssa Morris’s Up and Away, featuring Joey Kluesener on bassoon; and Brahms’ C Major Trio, led by violinist Elizabeth Coulter Vonderheide.

Our third annual movie night, this year featuring TWO films with world-premiere scores played by Wintergreen Festival Artists: The Vagabond (music by the Academy composition students) and A Dog’s Life (music by Daron Hagen)

Wintergreen Festival Artists play chamber music by Britten, Ravel, and Mendelssohn that is featured in three stunning movies: Fanny and Alexander, Un Coeur en Hiver, and The Age of Innocence. This vibrant music will bring to mind the lush sets and dramatic story lines of the silver-screen gems.

If it rains on Friday, July 14th, we'll be out here on the 16th to provide a great time for everyone!
