Open to classical singers at graduate and young artist levels who are interested in a focused and intense learning and performing experience.

program description
Wintergreen Music invites four singers to the inspiring Blue Ridge Mountains to polish their audition experience under the guidance of Chair of Vocal Studies Heather Johnson and additional voice faculty. Students will receive daily coachings, masterclasses, private lessons, and seminars in professional development and networking. They will also participate in chamber music and interdisciplinary project groups, and perform side-by-side with LEAD Co-op Faculty.
STUDIES INCLUDE:
Multiple masterclasses per week, including voice-specific and cross-disciplinary opportunities
Daily coachings with Faculty
One private lesson per week
Practice time with collaborative pianists and/or vocal coach
Instruction on vocal and mental health, the audition process, stage presence, and so much more
Guidance and experience speaking from the stage
Cross-disciplinary chamber music experience with LEAD student instrumentalists
Study collaborative art song repertoire under the guidance of our world-renowned Faculty, with an emphasis on exploring leadership
Build a professional portfolio, including items such as recordings, resume, bios, and internet presence
Participate in the guided creation of a collaborative, flexible, and cross-disciplinary project that defines the future of our industry
A collaborative evening of song, featuring LEAD voice students and faculty
Time and space for student-led projects with guidance from faculty
Custom workshops crafted by incoming students
Highlights include:
Enrollment for active participants will be capped at four students, creating opportunities for conversation, camaraderie, and collegiality.
Free access to nearly all Wintergreen Music Festival performances (a $900 value)
Beautiful hiking trails, breathtaking overlooks, and free access to the Wintergreen Resort Fitness and Aquatics center

Acceptances
Decisions regarding admission will be published by March 15 via email from the Acceptd application portal.
Application requirements
Video recordings of at least two contrasting works demonstrating your best singing. Must include at least one selection in English and one in another language. Different eras and styles recommended. Applicants may upload files or provide a link during the application process.
Current performing resume, including repertoire list.

Video recording of yourself describing a meaningful leadership experience and why it impacted you. 2 minutes or less.

FEES
Application:
$65 on or before March 1
Tuition:
$200 non-refundable deposit (Tuition is FREE!) This fee helps to cover admission to the aquatics center, admission to all Festival events, a Festival t-shirt, transportation from and to the Charlottesville airport, train station, or bus terminal, a meal at a local restaurant and a handful of pizza nights.
Room & Board:
Students will be responsible for securing their own housing accommodations and food for the duration of the program. A list of local AirB&B and VRBO will be provided upon acceptance and transportation to local grocery stores will be provided.
