Saturday MountainTop Masterworks II: Beethoven & A Bohemian Queen
In this unique MountainTop Masterworks, you’ll experience two unexpected trumpet concertos, led by guest conductor Sameer Patel and infused with his “infectious enthusiasm for music.” Enjoy an up-close performance with an instrument that typically sits in the back row! Trumpeters can be lyrical, joyful painters and poets – especially under the skillful mastery of Mary Elizabeth Bowden. Clarice Assad’s Bohemian Queen (co-commissioned by Wintergreen Music) paints a musical picture of Chicago artist Gertrude Abercrombie, while the world premiere of Reena Esmail’s Rosa de Sal takes you on a dream-like journey of beauty and love. Top it all off with a buoyant symphony by Beethoven and you have the epitome of the “typical yet unique” Wintergreen Music experience.
